Call for
Board
Members
Social Planning Cowichan is currently seeking volunteers from the community to serve on our Board of Directors, joining us as we strive to create a positive impact on the social well-being of the Cowichan Region. Through our work and reflected in our board membership, we seek to engage a cross section of the community in delivering our mission to research, form partnerships, create strategies and inform the Cowichan public about social planning issues.
As an agent for social change in Cowichan Region communities, Social Planning Cowichan acts to conduct research about the social health of the region; educate and inform community members about social planning issues; facilitate partnerships and community consensus on issues and action plans; and recommend action plans and short and long term strategies to improve the quality of life in the region. Our plan for this year is to be active in the areas of affordable housing, accessible child care, bridging First Nations and mainstream cultures, and community health and safety.
At Social Planning Cowichan, we believe an important part of our role is to identify issues that are important to the community and to provide information and facilitate relationship building in support of addressing those issues. Our board is comprised of community members and (non-voting) liaisons from local municipalities. We are seeking board members who represent the diversity of our community. If you believe your knowledge of issues faced by residents of our region, and your skills in fostering community and building relationships would serve well as a member of our board, then we invite you to fill out and submit an application form (available below), along with a letter outlining your skills, qualifications, the ways in which you feel you can assist us in our mission, and reasons for your interest in joining our organization.
Please forward all completed applications to infospcowichan@gmail.com.
We look forward to working with you!
